eClasssroom ProposalsNo proposals are being accepted at this time. Please check this site in October for details on proposal submissions. The eClassroom proposal process has been electronically automated. Proposals are submitted electronically. They are forwarded to the appropriate Dean (or designee) for review, approvals and priorities are returned electronically. When a proposal has been prioritized, it is entered into a queue. A staff member from IMS will contact the individual who has submitted request to discuss specific needs. Based on this dialogue, IMS will develop an estimate of costs based on the needs identified in proposals. Matching costs will be reviewed with proposing departments. Proposals and budgets will be finalized before the projects are reviewed for selection. The college or department submitting the request will be asked to match a minimum of 25 percent (25%) of the project cost for standard installations (projector, DVD and/or vhs players, audio amplification and control systems). If your request includes special equipment such as overhead document cameras, interactive white boards (such as SmartBoards), or other equipment not included in a standard installation package, your department or college will be asked to provide a match greater than 25%. There are some minor restrictions on these funds. Requests for eClassroom Funds should be for projection and media equipment used for instruction in classrooms and teaching spaces including seminar rooms and computer labs. Priority will be given to general purpose classrooms, scheduled by the University Scheduling Office, which are accessible to any academic department. eClassroom funds are not available for supply tems such as replacement projector lamps or laser pointers nor for laptop computers. Funding requests for computers and for departmental internet and wireless connections should be addressed to the Student Computing Allocation Committee (SCAC). Although Instructional Media Services is not funded to deploy Internet connections in classrooms, we do gather information about campus needs to facilitate accessibility. If you would like to request Internet connections for general purpose classrooms or other non-departmental teaching spaces, please complete Section 4 of the eClassroom application form. Proposals will be reviewed by an advisory panel drawn from faculty members plus administrators representing Academic Outreach and Continuing Education, the University Scheduling Office, Office of Information Technology (OIT), Space Planning and Management, and IMS. If you have additional questions about the Electronic Classroom Funds, please contact an IMS representative at eclassroom@ims.utah.edu or call 581-6744.
